Knoxville One Tank Trips and Main Street Communities

The spring travel season is just around the corner. If you're tired of being cooped up indoors all winter then a one-tank-trip from Knoxville may be the lift you need. Tennessee Main Street is a collection of towns and communities that are reclaiming their downtown  areas and historical significance. There are at least 2 of them that are about an hour from Knoxville. They both offer charm, history and friendly people.

Dandridge, Tennessee in Jefferson County was named for Martha Dandridge Washington. Take I-40, Exit 417. Coming from Knoxville turn right to head into downtown. There are unique shops and local restaurants to tempt you and the Quilt Trail adds visual interest. The water provides a splendid springtime backdrop for the scene. Click here for more information.

Morristown, Tennessee in Hamblen County is another interesting visit. The beautiful Panther Creek State Park offers camping, fishing, hiking trails and picnic opportunities. Shoppers may enjoy visiting the downtown Skymart or shopping mall. History buffs will enjoy learning about the long history of the Rose Center and Hamblen County area. Take I-40 past Dandridge to I-81 and follow the signs for Morristown.

Both of these offer an inexpensive getaway from Knoxville. Either city would be good for couples, a quiet family outing, history buffs and anyone who enjoys lake activities.
