Music is in the air in Oak Ridge Tennessee

The Labor Day concert by the Oak Ridge Community Band "is in many ways a tribute to the working man." That was the announcement from the stage at tonight's concert. The band shell at the A.K. Bissell Park in Oak Ridge, Tennessee vibrated gently with the sounds of music.

Selections included the Star-Spangled Banner, the Chicago Tribune March and Atomic City March. Other pieces included Nine-to-Five, a polka, a tribute to Louis Armstrong and more.

Skies above the band shell threatened to rain and a few sprinkles tried to put a damper on the event. Even these threats from Mother Nature didn't stop the Oak Ridge Community Band from performing the last summer concert.

This is one of those family friendly events that delight all ages. The assembled crowd was small but were delighted with the concert. Hands clapped to rhythmic beats of old favorites. An older couple even danced to the polka.

Razzleberry's Ice Cream
Razzleberry's provided concessions. Their popular ice cream and delicious barbeque sandwiches were on the menu. Razzleberry's doesn't bring tiny sandwiches to these events. They were double-fist sized and came with a super-sized dill pickle on the site. Cost? A reasonable $5.

It was a fitting way to say goodbye to summer. The Labor Day concert marked the final concert of the season for the Oak Ridge Community Band in Tennessee. Be sure to click like on our Facebook page. I have more photos there.
