Dawson Creek to Glacier National Park

Dawson Creek to Glacier National Park had several places where we could get supplies or gas. The largest cities on the route are in Grand Prairie and Calgary. I almost always end up staying overnight at the Walmart in Grand Prairie. Be aware that this Walmart doesn't carry ice. There are several gas stations nearby where it is available. The next largest town is Calgary, although several smaller towns also have gas and groceries.

Driving from Dawson Creek to Glacier National Park takes me a full day and the better part of the next. This takes you to the U.S. Customs and Border in Piegan, Montana. If you want to drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road, this is the best route to take.

Some people take the portion of the route through Edmonton instead of Calgary. I've done this, but prefer going through Calgary. I always seem to run into traffic problems in Edmonton and have learned to skip it. Each route is okay when you drive from Dawson Creek to Glacier National Park. They will each take you to the same border crossing. The map below shows the route, and my previous post on driving the Alaska Highway is here.
